Gloucestershire Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)

The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) describes the health, care and wellbeing needs of people in Gloucestershire. It will be used to inform the strategic direction of service delivery to meet these needs. In the future Gloucestershire Local Area Agreement and its targets will be informed by the findings of the JSNA.
The production of the JSNA is a statutory responsibility of the Director of Public Health and the Directors of Adult Social Services and Children's Services to undertake regular strategic needs assessments of their populations. In Gloucestershire this responsibility is shared between NHS Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire County Council. As Gloucestershire is a two-tier county, this duty requires the County Council and NHS Gloucestershire to work with the District Councils. Under the auspices of the Gloucestershire Health and Community Wellbeing Partnership (GHCWBP), Gloucestershire JSNA will also involve independent and voluntary sector organisations involved in health and social care for adults and families.
The Gloucestershire aim is to ensure that commissioners, planners, operational managers and stakeholders have the intelligence available to enable them to commission appropriate treatments, services and support. The Gloucestershire approach has four elements:
- Gloucestershire Joint Strategic Needs Assessment - Reports, Briefings and Bulletins
Written reports, including the Director of Public Health Annual Report, thematic bulletins and commissioning briefings.
- eJSNA
An e-tool that allows users to browse the growing evidence base that can be used to inform strategic commissioning and service delivery.
