Vaccination Programme

Director of Public Health, Dr Shona Arora says:
“We are working on the latest information from the Department of Health regarding the vaccination of the under fives to undertake a sustainable, effective and efficient vaccination programme for swine flu (H1N1) in Gloucestershire.
“Parents and guardians of children in this group will be contacted in the coming months to be advised on how they can access the vaccination. We would ask that unless your child is in one of the first priority groups and has already been invited to receive the vaccine, you do not contact your GP surgery at this stage.
“We are currently carrying out a vaccination programme for the first priority groups and frontline health and social care staff to ensure they are able to protect themselves and others, and that we continue to provide services to patients.
“Unlike seasonal flu, which tends to affect older people, swine flu can affect people of all ages. We would therefore encourage everyone who is invited in this first phase to take the opportunity to be vaccinated and protect themselves from this virus.”
