18.11.2008
Residents of Springbank are this week celebrating the opening of their new GP surgery.
Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust and the local community partnership in Springbank have been working with GPs and the lead Nurse Practitioner, Angela Cooper, to provide services at the Community Resource Centre.
The new surgery will complement the range of community-based services that are being established for the benefit of local people.
Debra Elliot, Programme Director for Primary Care at the PCT, said:
“The focus of everyone concerned in this development has been to establish high quality and safe services for local patients. We are delighted to be opening the surgery and would like to thank the local community partnerships for their help in shaping local services.”
The surgery will provide a full medical primary care service to local patients led by GPs and nursing staff. The Advanced Nurse Practitioner at the surgery will provide services such as initial assessment (triage), treatment of minor conditions and advice and care for patients with long term conditions such as diabetes.”
The surgery has two consulting rooms and one treatment room available for primary care services. Opening hours will be from 8.30am to 6.30pm. Many of the services available during this time will be Nurse Practitioner led.
Health Visitor and Midwife clinics are also planned.
Dr Penny West, a GP at the Springbank Surgery, said:
“We have been working hard to set up the new surgery for patients living in the Springbank area. The Community Resource Centre is located in the heart of the community and this is a major step forward in making primary care services more accessible.”
Anyone interested in becoming a patient at the surgery can pick up a registration form from the surgery, tel number 01242 234306. On return of a completed form they will be invited to a new patient check and able to use the services provided by the surgery.
