Minor Injury Unit opening hours – do you know them?

15/07/2008

With the lighter nights and adults and children enjoying the out of doors more, Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust is reminding patients in Tewkesbury to be aware of the opening hours for the Minor Injury Unit at the hospital.

The Minor Injury Unit at Tewkesbury Hospital is open from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.

Says Director of Care Services, John Ford: “In the summer months we all tend to enjoy the out of doors more which can sometimes bring about injury. We want people to make the best use of their local services and avoid unnecessary travel or inconvenience. Patients who need treatment between 8pm and 8am can receive care at the Accident and Emergency departments at Cheltenham General or Gloucestershire Royal hospitals, or dial 999 in an emergency.

“We are committed to patients in Tewkesbury receiving the best possible medical care so we want to remind them of the opening hours of their local services.”

Minor Injury Units at the Community Hospitals treat a variety of injuries and illnesses such as sprains, wounds, minor fractures, minor head injuries and management of minor injuries following road traffic accidents.
