“The NHS in Gloucestershire has a strong track record for achieving A&E waiting time performance targets and the PCT and Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are working hard to put in place arrangements to respond to the current pressures.”

“An action plan has been agreed which includes increasing staffing levels for the PCT’s in-reach team to support patients who can be safely transferred from hospital, setting up an emergency care group which will meet frequently and address day to day issues swiftly and carrying out an independent review of the current service to identify what improvements can be made for patients.”

“It is important to stress that the vast majority of patients continue to experience timely access to hospital care and every effort is being made to reduce delays and improve the current position.”
