Opportunity to see Health and Social Care in Action
24/04/2008
Saturday 26 April - Moore Cottage Hospital, Bourton-on-the-Water
Times: 10am-12pm and 1-3pm
Local residents in Bourton-on-the-Water and the surrounding areas are invited to an Open Day at Moore Cottage Hospital on Saturday 26 April 2008
The Day runs from 10am to 12pm and 1-3pm.
Visitors will be given a guided tour of the standard care pathway/route that a person goes through on referral to the intermediate care* team.
The tour involves nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and social care staff from Gloucestershire County Council. There will be demonstrations and examples of the care given, and visitors will see how the staff enable someone to be more independent and promote health and well-being after being referred from hospital/care home/their own home.
There will also be the opportunity to ask questions about the local health services that are available and information and displays from local organisations.
Jane Smith, Matron said: “The intermediate care facilities available in the North Cotswolds enable care to be provided in the community. This Open Day gives local people a chance to see this in action.”
Cllr Tony Hicks, Lead Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Gloucestershire County Council said: “We are pleased to be working together with the NHS to help people get their independence back after suffering from illness or a stay in hospital. I’d encourage people to go along to Moore Cottage and see for themselves the services that are available.”
The intermediate care team provide care and support to people to give them confidence and skills to return home and maintain their lifestyle.
Intermediate care has been provided in Bourton-on-the-Water for more than a year. So far over 225 patients have been cared for and helped to return home with confidence.
