This Month's 10 Top Tips...For Drinking Alcohol

The Government advise that women should not drink more than 2-3 units of alcohol a day and men 3-4 units a day with one to two alcohol free days a week.

Remember that home measures are often larger than pub measures, so watch the size of your drinks!

10 Top Tips For Drinking Alcohol

  1. Leave your car at home if you are planning to drink

  2. Decide your limit and stick to it

  3. Don’t drink on an empty stomach

  4. Pace yourself - slow down and take smaller sips

  5. Know what you are drinking

  6. Say no to top ups – keep track of how much you are drinking

  7. Opt for less alcoholic longer drinks

  8. Drink water or soft drinks in between alcoholic drinks

  9. Look out for your friends as well as yourself

  10. Don’t walk home alone – get a licensed taxi for drinking alcohol
